Todd Mohler attended Successful Water Conservation Projects - A How-to Workshop and Vendor Fair on Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 at the SFWMD Headquarters in West Palm Beach, FL. This 1 day workshop was aimed at municipal agencies, utilities, homeowners associations and industrial, commercial and institutional water users to learn how to design and implement conservation initiatives that save water and money.

Marsha Carson and Judy Jensen received the CGIA - Certified Golf Irrigation Auditors certification from the Irrigation Association in November, 2008. To receive this certification from the Irrigation Association, a candidate must have 1 year of verifiable experience in the irrigation field, be accepted as a candidate by the Irrigation Association. The candidate must score a passing grade on the examination and perform field tests on golf course irrigation systems to determine efficiency, as well as how to combine plant water use, soils and local weather data to calculate accurate watering schedules for irrigation systems. Most importantly, a Certified Golf Irrigation Auditor deals directly with the issue of wise water use on the golf course.

Marsha Carson attended the Basic Irrigation Class in June and took the state licensing exam in July for the Texas Irrigators License. She received her license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on Sept. 22, 2008, License No. 17105. The state of Texas defines a Licensed Irrigator as: one who can sell, design, consult, install, maintain, alter, repair, or service an irrigation system including the connection of such system to a private or public, raw or potable water supply or any water supply. This includes water wells and unincorporated areas of the state.To pass the licensing exam and become a Licensed Irrigator you must be proficient in plot plan development, head layout, zoning & pipe sizing. Licensed Irrigators must also demonstrate proficiency in industry terminology and installation methods, cross connection control and associated equipment, reading blueprints, wiring standards, calculating wire size, reading pressure loss charts, how elevation affects pressure, hydraulics. Every irrigation project completed in the state of Texas must be done so under the direct supervision of a Licensed Irrigator.

Todd Mohler and Marsha Carson recently attended the ARCSA workshop and passed the exam for American Rainwater Catchment System Association-Accredited Professional which is based on the US Green Building Council’s process for Rainwater Catchment Systems Accredited Professional. The purpose of accreditation is to recognize individuals who have demonstrated a competency of general knowledge and experience to provide advice and/or assistance in the use of rainwater capture and harvesting. To date ARCSA has 115 accredited Professionals.
